Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 September 2026

Future Astronaut, LLC ("Future Astronaut", "we", "us") operates futureastronautco.com and Future Astronaut Records. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We are a small independent company on the Gulf Coast — the honest summary is that we collect very little, and we do not sell any of it.

What we collect

When you use the site. Nothing that identifies you. We run no analytics, no advertising pixel and no tracking scripts, and we set no first-party cookies. Our host keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp — for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.

When you contact us. The contact form collects your name, email address and your message, plus two anti-spam fields. We use this to answer you and nothing else.

When you submit a demo. Your artist name, legal name, email address, links to your music, and the audio you upload. If we accept a release, we then collect what we need to actually release it: track credits, publishing and songwriter details, payout details, and the tax information required by law before we can pay you.

When you subscribe to the mailing list. Your email address, and whether you opened or clicked our emails.

When you buy merch. Orders run through Shopify, which collects your name, shipping address, email and payment details. Card numbers go to Shopify's payment processor — we never see or store them.

Why we collect it

To reply to you; to run a release we have agreed to put out; to pay you and meet the tax and record-keeping obligations that come with paying you; to send you the emails you asked for; to fulfil merch orders; and to keep the site secure. That is the whole list.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Embedded content

Some pages embed players and feeds from Spotify, SoundCloud and Instagram. Those embeds load from those companies' servers and can set their own cookies and see your IP address, exactly as if you had visited their site directly. We do not control that and we receive nothing from it. See our Cookie Policy.

Ticket links take you to third-party ticketing platforms. Once you leave our site, their privacy policy applies, not ours.

How long we keep it

Contact messages: as long as we need them to deal with the enquiry, then we delete them. Demo submissions we pass on: we keep the record of the decision but delete the audio. Release records, contracts and tax forms: as long as the law requires — tax records are generally kept seven years. Mailing-list data: until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it.
  • Ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@futureastronautco.com. We will respond within 30 days.
  • Block cookies from embedded players in your browser settings — the site still works.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, for example under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the UK/EU GDPR. We apply the rights above to everyone who asks, wherever you are.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. Some of our events are 18+ or 21+ — the age limit is set by the venue and listed on the ticket page.

Security

We use reputable vendors, limit who on our small team can see what, and never store tax identification numbers or payment card details ourselves. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If the change is significant — for example if we start running analytics — we will say so on the site.
